The United Auto Workers' contract with Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors expires as of midnight on September 14th. NPR's Don Gonyea reports that talks with Ford appear to be on track, but negotiations with General Motors are not going as smoothly as hoped because the company needs to significantly reduce their work force.
