Liquid Ventilation

Researchers are experimenting with an oxygen-rich liquid to see if it can improve the survival chances of babies born very prematurely. The approach, known as "liquid ventilation," is designed to help premature infants get enough oxygen before their lungs are fully developed. Preliminary results indicate the approach is promising. Neil Tickner of member station WHYY in Philadelphia reports.
