Airline Security

Vice President Gore's air safety commission presented its recommendations today. They include using passenger profiles to spot possible terrorists... and modernizing the air traffic control system to reduce accidents. Civil liberties groups object to using the profiles, saying they would lead to discrimination against certain groups of innocent travelers. Budget hawks worry about the cost of the safety improvements. NPR's Chitra Ragavan has a report.
