NPR's Debbie Elliott reports that a small group of survivors of the Tuskegee, Alabama syphilis study want an apology from the federal government. The U.S. Public Health Service studied more than 600 black men starting in the 1940's. Part of the study included not treating the men for syphilis, even though the government knew antibiotics could treat the disease.
