Linda talks with NPR's Tom Gjelten about news from Lima, Peru, where Peruvian forces apparently stormed the Japanese ambassador's residence, where rebels with the Tupac Amaru movement have been holding 72 hostages since December 17th. Loud explosions and gunfire could be heard for several minutes, and there are reports that as many as 40 of the hostages escaped from the compound.
