Murray, KY – Spring break is a time to unwind, visit friends and family, maybe tackle that household deck repair or catch up on some work. But one Kentucky professor spent her spring break teaching in a country where U.S. military convoys are still a common sight: Iraq. Dr. Sue Sroda is graduate coordinator for Murray State University's Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program, and she speaks with Jacque Day about her experience, and the teachers she encountered in this postwar nation on the mend.

This is an extended version of the interview that first aired Friday, March 27, 2007 on "The Front Page."

Dr. Sroda will share photos and videos in an open-to-the-public presentation titled "English in Babylon: Why I Went to Iraq and What I Did There" at 6 PM April 9, Faculty Hall Room 208.
