Cadiz, KY – Two weeks ago, leaders of a Caldwell County Church, Blue Spring Baptist, began approaching members residing in Trigg County who signed a petition supporting the legalization of alcohol. The ultimatum: change your vote, or leave the church. The incident has spurred an escalating debate over church authority versus voter rights. The Kentucky State Board of Elections confirms receiving numerous calls on the issue. To dig deeper into the legal question, Jacque Day approached the Election Board and the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General: both declined to comment.

She reached Mat Staver, Dean of the Law School of Liberty University and Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, the law firm that represented Mercer County Ky., when the ACLU sued the county for displaying the Ten Commandments in the courthouse. Here Jacque Day speaks with Dean Staver.
