Frankfort, KY – Murray State University President Randy Dunn says, despite state budget cuts, the school continues to make progress. He points to affordable tuition rates, high retention numbers and continued growth in degrees awarded.
"Murray State continues to exhibit the high quality, to maintain the national renown that we've become known for, but also do that in a way that we think is also being responsive to what you're needing from a higher education institution - being mindful of the efficiencies that we need to create."
But Dunn, and other university presidents, are warning lawmakers continued progress will be difficult if more budget cuts are coming. Also testifying before a House budget subcommittee were the presidents of Western Kentucky University, Kentucky State University and the community college system.
