Paducah, KY – At the end of a 2 day retreat for Paducah City Commissioners Monday, long time city manager Jim Zumwalt resigned from his post. Zumwalt's resignation comes after a complicated process involving securing land for a downtown Quilt Show Pavilion. The Commission was facing a time crunch to get the pavilion erected before the April show. Confident the city owned the property commissioners committed one and a half million dollars to build the pavilion. Only after committing the funding did the commissioners learn that the donated property was in fact deeded to the Paducah Renaissance Alliance, not the city of Paducah. The city however will receive the property after a deed transfer which could take up to two weeks. Zumwalt though has accepted much of the blame for the miscommunication, and despite Mayor Bill Paxton's strong support for Zumwalt, commissioner's comments resulted in the long time city' manager's resignation. Chad Lampe speaks with Zumwalt about the situation.
