KCTCS Transfer Bill A Reality

By Charlie Compton

Frankfort, KY – A seamless transfer of college credits from the community and technical college system to state universities should be in place within a few years. Governor Steve Beshear has signed into law a measure which makes it easier for students within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to transfer credits to four year public universities. Senate education committee chair Ken Winters says there are also benefits within those state owned colleges and universities.

"We do see difficulties that have occurred in transcript the commonality involvement in transcripts will benefit greatly those going from one senior institution to another."

Governor Beshear says the changes align degree programs within KCTCS with similar programs in four year universities. The law goes into effect in the 2012-2013 academic year.
