Murray, KY – Heavy rain over the weekend could bring flooding to some areas of western Kentucky. The National Weather Service in Paducah is predicting six to seven inches of rain in the next few days. Forecaster Chris Knowles says some areas may get as many as ten inches. Knowles predicts a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms tonight, but says the second day is the main concern.
"Saturday night lasting into Sunday. That's when we could have significant flooding concerns, and that's when you really should be on guard and be ready to go. And it looks like things should taper off through the afternoon Sunday, and by Sunday night considerable improvement."
Flooding could cause hazardous driving conditions, especially at night. Motorists should take precautions when traveling after dark. WKMS will provide details on flooding as they become available.
