Murray, Ky. – It's been a tense week for Murray city officials. A Wednesday mediating session between the city and firefighters who sued for years of overtime back pay produced a settlement agreement of $350,000 plus contributions to the Kentucky Retirement System and FICA. Thursday the council voted to accept the terms of the agreement, then the personnel/finance committee immediately entered into a marathon budget meeting. Jacque Day brings us this update about the city of Murray's race to balance the budget.

Throughout the process, the city of Murray attorney Warren Hopkins has declined to comment. The finance committee is scheduled to meet Monday to discuss the budget for the coming fiscal year.
