Paducah, KY – Since February, filmmaker Raymond De Felitta has been blogging on Salon dot com about the experience of making City Island, detailing the challenges he and producer and star Andy Garcia faced in getting the film financed, cast, and completed. The fruit of their labor is now onscreen this week at Paducah's Maiden Alley Cinema. The film, co-starring Julianna Margulies, and Alan Arkin, is the story of a corrections officer who wants to be an actor, but is afraid of upsetting his tempestuous wife and his comfortable life. Larry Thomas and Todd Hatton look at City Island.
