Louisville, KY – Episcopalians in the Diocese of Kentucky have a new bishop. A convention of clergy and lay delegates chose the Reverend Terry Allen White over the weekend.
Allen comes to Kentucky from Kansas City, Missouri, where he has been dean of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral since 2004. He was elected on the second ballot, receiving 35 of 56 ballots among clergy and 40 of 76 cast by the lay delegates.
The election must be ratified by a majority of bishops and standing committees in each of the national Episcopal Church's dioceses, though virtually all elections are ratified.
If approved, White is scheduled to be consecrated as the diocese's eighth bishop on September 25th at the Galt House in Louisville.
