Paducah, KY – The United Way of Paducah-McCracken County has joined with the City of Paducah to create a 40-member task force to study and create a plan to address poverty in the city and county. The United Way's Kristin Williams and Georgann Lookofsky presented information and strategies for the task force, to be called Impact Poverty, at last night's city commission meeting. Lookofsky told commissioners that almost 27 percent of Paducah residents, and 36.5 percent of children under the age of 18, live in poverty. Impact Poverty will start collecting and analyzing existing data this month and continue gathering information at least until next summer, when the group hopes to present findings and a 10-year plan.
