Hopkinsville, KY – NAACP National President Ben Jealous stirred up controversy with his July 13th remarks on his organization's resolution condemning racist elements associated with the Tea Party movement. Tea Party spokespeople responded with counter-charges of racism in the NAACP and they've announced they'll hold a forum on the issue in Philadelphia at the end of the month. Here in Kentucky, Christian County has one of the highest per capita populations of African-Americans in the Jackson Purchase. Hopkinsville/Christian County NAACP Branch President Reverend John Banks spoke with Todd Hatton from his office in Hopkinsville about his reaction to the resolution, the Tea Party response, and what he thinks the Tea Party's forum on racism may accomplish.
