Purchase Area, Ky. – Kentucky's Department for Public Health this week announced they're developing a plan to meet the needs of Kentuckians suffering from, or at risk for, diabetes. The number of Kentucky adults diagnosed with the disease is approaching 450,000, more than a tenth of the commonwealth's population. Jackson Purchase counties are on par with that trend. And so, the DPH has launched a survey to gather input for the plan from citizens. Jacque Day speaks with Judith Watson, a certified diabetes educator with the Purchase District Health Department and regional coordinator for the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.
Diabetes Survey
DPH and partners are gathering input from consumers to learn more about the support people who have diabetes, or those at risk for diabetes, have received or would like to receive from their doctors, employers and communities to manage their diabetes and help them stay healthy. To get this information, all Kentucky adults with, or at risk for, diabetes are invited to answer a few questions through an online survey. Deadline Aug. 12.
