Kentucky Lake, Tenn. – You can buy books about how to build a solar car, or how to build a solar motorcycle. But what about a solar-powered boat? A Pennsylvania couple might just have that book in them. They outfitted a 19th Century-style canal boat with solar panels. Then, this summer they set out on a year-long voyage propelled by the power of the sun. They're journeying the Great Loop, a system of waterways that borders and surrounds eastern North America. Our correspondent Jacque Day met up with the couple when they docked this week at Kentucky Lake.
