Murray, Ky. – Oelwein, Iowa is a town much like the communities of western Kentucky, southern Illinois and northwest Tennessee. But they share more than Heartland values. Across the Midwest, small towns are experiencing a seemingly uncontrollable rise in the production of methamphetamine. Oelwein is the setting for Nick Reding's book Methland. Reding gives a reading at Murray State Monday as one of the visiting authors for the Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing biannual residency. Jacque Day speaks with Reding about his book, and about the meth problem in our backyards.
