Murray, KY – the Fourth of July weekend is almost upon us, and at a time like this, it bears noting that the rights and freedoms we enjoy thanks to our independence have been guaranteed and paid for, time and again, by the sacrifices of our citizen-soldiers. Or, as author and educator Michael Freeland often says, "Freedom isn't free." And he is acutely aware of the cost. Freeland is a veteran of the Second World War; he was a combat medic with the 82nd Airborne and saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. He's also written a new book, Time and the River, and he joined us in the studio to talk about it.
