Murray, KY – Murray's Playhouse in the Park hosts a benefit performance of the Irish play "Stones in His Pockets" at 7 p.m. next Friday and Saturday. Proceeds go to the touring and production of a new original children's play about a strong Asian heroine by Lissa Graham Schneider of the Murray State University Department of Theatre. She hopes to take the new play to K through 12 schools in our region next year and to the South Eastern Theatre Conference. Kate Lochte speaks with Ms. Schneider about her work, starting with more about the benefit for "Sanjie (sahn-jee)" which she wrote for her Chinese daughter, Lydia.

Lissa Graham Schneider of Murray State's Department of Theatre directs the Marie Jones' play "Stones in His Pockets" at Murray's Playhouse in the Park August 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. Concessions available. Both performances benefit the touring and production of Ms. Schneider's original new children's play about a mythical Asian heroine, "Sanjie."
