The CEO for Tennessee pork producer Tosh Farms is Farm Journal Media’s 2019 Top Producer Of The Year.

The company’s nationwide award recognizes farmers from whom their readers can learn business concepts, including  succession plans to overcoming adversity.

CEO Jimmy Tosh took over his family’s 316 acre farm in 1972. Tosh Farms now has 17,000 acres of row crops and 37,000 sows that produce 850,000 market hogs each year.

He said he never thought his business would grow to the size it is now. “I love what I’m doing and there’s not many people who are able to spend their whole lives- uh, love what they’re doing and also being able to make a good living for the family and also be able to provide for the community,” he said.

Tosh said he’s not planning on retiring soon but has started the process of turning over the farm's operations to his children. He said they want to make sure the business remains successful.

Tosh was recognized at the 2019 Top Producer Seminar in Chicago this week.
