Paducah School of Art Hosts Ceramics Invitational, Empty Bowls Project

Paducah School of Art and Design is hosting open studio for ceramicists and friends to make and glaze bowls for this year's Empty Bowls Project. Ceramics Professor John Hasegawa speaks with Kate about how one can get involved. Also, they talk about what's on display at the WKCTC Clemens Gallery and the National Ceramics Invitational, which opened January 23 and runs through February 13.

"We are looking for people of all skill levels, so we'll have a few professional potters present, some people experienced in clay, so we'll also have some people who have never worked with clay before there, and we'll be busy helping them with how to make bowls... It's a fun experience for any skill level."

Professor Hasegawa tells Kate about the Empty Bowl Project, and Paducah School of Art and Design's involvement in the project. Hasegawa also explains the general process of creating ceramics, and how participating in the ceramics project at PSAD is both challenging and enjoyable--especially for beginners. There are also ceramics classes for people interested in learning how to make ceramics and have fun making something new.

The National Ceramics Invitational showcases contemporary ceramic works by esteemed artists across the United States who work primarily with clay. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
