The Kentucky Arts Council has a new executive director.

Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Don Parkinson named Chris Cathers the new director of the program.

Cathers has worked with the Kentucky Arts Council since 2007, and has served as interim executive director since September 2017.

Prior to this position, as arts council program branch manager, Cathers produced The Kentucky Crafted Market, an annual exhibit showcasing art and artists from the Commonwealth.

Shelby Frye is a senior at Murray State University, double majoring in theatre and journalism. She has lived in Murray for four years, but grew up in Paris, Tennessee. When she isn’t working at WKMS, Shelby performs in and works on crew for Murray State Theatre productions, plays Dungeons & Dragons, and keeps her plate full with her dual majors.
