The Kentucky Labor Cabinet says the state has set an all-time low occupational injury rate.
Citing a report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Kentucky’s rate improved from 3.8 in 2014 to 3.7 in 2015. The number reflects the number of incidents per 100 people.
Sectors that saw the biggest improvement were in cement and concrete manufacturing and sawmill and wood preservation.
Labor Secretary Derrick Ramsey said improving workplace safety is his cabinet’s ‘top priority.’
The incident rate in Kentucky has been on a steady decline since numbers were first calculated in 1996 with a rate of 8.4.
The national injury rate is 3.0 according to the report.
