KYTC: Prepare for Heavy Traffic on US 68 During Annual '400 Mile Sale'

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in west Kentucky is reminding motorists to prepare for heavy traffic along U.S. 68 between Paducah and Maysville this Thursday through Sunday.

The annual 400 Mile Sale stretches across the commonwealth and is expected to draw traffic into small towns along U.S. 68, including Aurora, Benton, Cadiz and Draffenville.

The event has drawn visitors from around the country and globe. Organizers have said the sale provides economic benefit to more than 60 communities as visitors may stay at hotels and eat at restaurants.

KYTC asks motorists to not park along the highway and to be alert for slow moving traffic and sudden stops. They ask people setting up booths to not place them on a highway right-of-way, to pick a site with ample parking and to not place yard sale signs on right-of-ways or where they block the view of oncoming traffic.

More about the event.
