Unemployment rates in the Pennyrile and Purchase regions remain largely unchanged in the latest report from the Kentucky Center of Statistics.
The Purchase region’s rate is at 5.5 percent and the Pennyrile is at 5.9 percent. Caldwell and Calloway Counties saw the largest jump in unemployment rates from last year with more than half of a percent.
Livingston County saw the largest drop in unemployment in the two regions - of nearly one percent. Muhlenberg County has the highest unemployment rate at 7.7 percent and Todd County has the lowest at 4.5 percent. The national average is at 4 percent.
Statewide, Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate at 3.7 percent. Harlan County recorded the highest rate at 13.1 percent.
