The Western Kentucky State Fair has been canceled because of concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
The fair board announced the cancellation in a Facebook post.
The annual fair, which has been billed as a regional draw since the early 1950s, was originally scheduled for this week.
In early May, organizers said the fair would be delayed until later in the year. But a Facebook post on Friday stated, “Due to the health and safety of fair-goers, 2020 Western Kentucky State Fair is canceled.”
