Illinois Cuts Superintendent Jobs

wikipedia.org

Illinois will trim the number of regional school district superintendent offices in the state. Governor Pat Quinn signed four education bills yesterday, including one that cuts the number of superintendents from 44 to 35.

Regional superintendents have often been a target for officials looking to cut spending. Last year Quinn proposed eliminating them, but legislators instead shifted their funding from state to local money. The other bills involve beefing up the math curriculum, alternative education licensing and administrative certificates.
