SIU Signs 2+2 Agreement with WKCTC

Southern Illinois University Carbondale has a new agreement that leaders hope will lead to more students, and also opportunities for growth in the art program.

SIU and West Kentucky Community and Technical College have signed the "two-plus-two" agreement, meaning students taking classes in Paducah can seamlessly transfer to SIU for a bachelor's degree.

SIU President and Interim Carbondale Chancellor Randy Dunn says when you add this to the fact that Paducah has a thriving arts community, students and faculty have some exciting new options:

"All of these are factors, I think, that come together to make a pretty neat opportunity for SIU Carbondale to grab those students, finish them off with Bachelor's degrees through our outstanding School of Art and Design in Carbondale, and maybe hold some of them for MFA degrees."

This is the third articulation agreement between SIU and WKCTC. Dunn says students there will also be able to take advantage of in-state tuition, as Kentucky is one of the border states included in the tuition plan from several years ago.
