A group of staff members from Paducah’s McNabb Elementary will divide $1 million worth of Wednesday night’s $1.6 billion record-breaking Powerball prize.
According to Paducah Public Schools spokesman Wayne Walden, 11 employees calling themselves "the Tiny Tornado" pooled together to buy tickets. Despite the 1-in-11,688,053 odds, one of the group’s tickets matched five of the six balls drawn - minus the Powerball - winning the million dollar prize. Before taxes, that's $90,909 per winner, divided 11 ways.
Walden said the employees will hold a news conference Friday.
