A Murray State University music professor is 2016 College and University Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Todd Hill will receive the Kentucky Music Educators Association award at a conference in Louisville later this month.

He’s been nominated four times by KMEA First District educators in his nine years with the university.

Hill teaches a variety of courses at MSU, among them arranging, musicianship and jazz history. He also directs several music clubs including the MSU Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Band.

Under his leadership, the award-winning orchestra has played at numerous state conferences and the Mid-West International Band Clinic in Chicago.

Hill has led his own professional groups, the Todd Hill Orchestra and Quintet, for over 30 years. He’s played with other performers including Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra Jr. and Gary Morris.
