Katherine Farmer has been named Murray State University’s next Faculty Regent, as hers was the only name submitted for nomination.
Farmer currently serves as director of the Curriculum Materials Center, Education Research and Instruction Librarian and Vice President of the Faculty Senate.
She will retain all of those roles as she replaces current Faculty Regent Martin Jacobs when his term ends in June.
Jacobs' joined the Board of Regents by special election when Renee Fister was selected as senior special advisor to the president in 2014.
Farmer will represent MSU faculty’s viewpoints on the board while the university pursues initiatives of its strategic plan and budget task force reviews.
"I'm looking forward to working on behalf of the faculty to ensure that we keep a university that is focused on students and academic excellence," said Farmer.
Farmer’s term begin July 1st and she will be sworn in at the August BoR meeting.
