Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has named a new director to the state’s Higher Education Commission.
Mike Krause takes over for interim director Russ Deaton, who has been named deputy director. Since 2014, Krause has served as executive director of the ‘Drive to 55’ campaign, an effort to increase the number of Tennesseans with a postsecondary degree to 55 percent by 2025. He also led the implementation of the Tennessee Promise initiative. // The commission oversees the University of Tennessee system and nine other state universities, 13 community and 27 technical colleges.
