A rededication and open house for WKCTC’s Mary Ellen Thompson Health Care Center will be held on Friday, August 12th. The center is on-campus and was named in honor of Mary Ellen Thompson. Thompson was a healthcare advocate and founder of Superior Care Home, a nursing and rehabilitation center in Paducah.

The center houses the certified nursing assistant program and also serves as a testing center for seven counties in western Kentucky. WKCTC’s Dean of Nursing Shari Gholson says the center prepares students for job opportunities and further education.

“For the region as a whole I think the design of the center, just allowing more hands-on education and practice for the students will again provide a stronger and prepared workforce for our community,” says Gholson.

The nursing division ranges from 300 to 500 students. The rededication and open house is from 1-3p.m. in the Anderson Technical Building.
