Bevin Ceremonially Signs Bill Requiring Students Take CPR Training

via Governor's Office

Governor Matt Bevin ceremonially signed a bill Friday requiring public schools give students cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.

Senate Bill 33 requires students in grades seven through twelve to receive a minimum one-time training. A certified instructor does not need to provide the training and the students do not need to be certified in CPR.

Senator Max Wise and members of the American Heart Association joined Bevin for the signing.

Wise said SB 33 will teach essential hands-on life-saving skills.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
