Murray State’s board of regents will meet Tuesday to appoint an interim president as current President Bob Davies is resigning to become the president of Central Michigan University.
The agenda, provided by the university president's office, includes a request to vote on the appointment of an interim president.
Davies has served as Murray State’s 13th President since 2014.
In the two most recent searches the board selected previous president Kern Alexander to serve as interim president for the first seven months of 2006. In August, the board of regents appointed Tim Miller, then president of the university foundation, to serve as interim until November of 2006.
In 2013, the board again tapped Miller to serve as interim president while the university conducted a national search for a permanent president.
The 2:00 board meeting also includes the swearing in of two new new regents, Student Regent J.T. Payne and Eric Fletcher Crigler, who was appointed by Governor Bevin Monday.
This story has been corrected to reflect that two regents will be sworn in, not two new campus police officers as this post originally reported.
