Wikimedia Commons

Atmos Energy Corporation customers will see their bills rise after the company won approval for an $8 point 5 million annual revenue increase. The Kentucky Public Service Commission PSC stated that the adjusted rates will be “fair, just and reasonable.”

The PSC approved the increase Tuesday, April 22. This means the typical residential customer using an average of 5,000 cubic feet of natural gas per month will have an increase of $1.99 per month in the base

portion of the bill. The monthly customer charge will increase to $16 dollars. The surcharge resets to zero with the rate increase. Atmos serves about 173,000 customers in 38 counties in western and central Kentucky.

The PSC is an independent agency attached for administrative purposes to the Energy and Environment Cabinet. It regulates more than 1,500 gas, water, sewer, electric and telecommunication utilities operating in Kentucky and has approximately 85 employees.
