Murray, Mayfield, Paducah, Hopkinsville and Clarksville lead urban centers in the Four Rivers Region for possible lead contamination according to a new online map.
In the wake of the Flint, Michigan water crisis, online news aggregator Vox developed the interactive map highlighting water districts across the U-S with conditions for high levels of lead concentration. Created in conjunction with the Washington State Department of Health, the map scales risk from one to ten.
While high-rankings do not necessarily mean confirmed cases of lead poisoning, environmental risk factors and population could lead to contamination.
The map uses U-S Census housing and poverty data to show areas of risk.
