New Kentucky Laws Take Effect Thursday

A long list of new laws are set to take effect in Kentucky this week, including one that will allow the state to offer extra tax incentives to encourage automobile manufacturers and parts suppliers to expand production in the state. Governor Steve Beshear signed about 150 bills into law earlier this year, nearly all of which take effect this Thursday. Beshear says the new tax incentives will create more manufacturing jobs in the commonwealth, which is already home to Toyota, Ford and General Motors assembly. Other laws are aimed at cracking down on methamphetamine makers, copper thieves, and rogue pigs that have been destroying crops in rural Kentucky.
