The City of Paducah will submit a letter of intent to the US Army Corps of Engineers to support the city floodwall’s rehabilitation.
In 2009, a feasibility report showed the wall needs numerous upgrades and repairs. As part of an agreement with the Corps, the city will pay thirty five percent of an estimated nearly $20 million dollars needed for the project. The federal government will cover the rest. Once the letter of intent is received, the city will enter into a partnership with the Corps. Engineers will begin designing plans for the project at that point. Those designs will take an estimated one-to-two years to complete.
