The Kentucky Department of Charitable Gaming has donated $2,500 to a telephone assistance line for people who think they may have a gambling problem. The Kentucky Council on Problem Gambling offers the helpline, also sponsored by the Kentucky Lottery Corporation and Keeneland Race Course. Charitable Gaming Commissioner Marty Hammons says the helpline received nearly 900 calls last year. Of those calls, Hammons says the caller was provided with some type of service such as referral to a certified counselor or Gamblers Anonymous meeting or sent material about gambling problems.
