The Kentucky court system had no phone lines or Internet connections for about two days after police say thieves cut the lines looking for recyclable material.
Kentucky Court of Justice spokesperson Leigh Anne Hiatt says the outages affected state and local courts in all of Kentucky’s 120 counties from Tuesday through Thursday. Kentuckians who need to make court-related payments like traffic tickets or restitution had to pay with cash or money order because clerks could not run debit cards. AT&T official were not immediately available for comment.
