Representative Will Coursey (D-Symsonia) will have to provide depositions in a retaliation lawsuit brought against him by a state staffer.
Nicole Cusic is an employee of the state Legislative Research Commission. She alleges Coursey and former LRC executive director Bobby Sherman retaliated against her when she complained about Coursey’s inappropriate behavior toward female interns.
Cusic’s attorney Thomas Clay says that Judge Thomas Wingate will order the depositions from Coursey and his client next week. Clay adds that he’s hopeful a motion he’s made in a counter suit filed by Coursey in Marshall County will be ruled in his favor.
“Mr. Coursey filed a slap suit down there, you know, alleging defamation, and so, we made a motion either to dismiss the suit down there or transfer it to Franklin County,” said Clay. “The judge took that under submission and is going to issue an order on that too.”
Coursey has denied the charges against him, and has said that he will not be intimidated by Cusic or Clay, whom he has called “her big city lawyer.”
