With just 90 days to the primary election contest, candidates for Kentucky’s second district State Senate seat are campaigning for their party’s nomination. Retired law enforcement officer David Hoffman and Danny Carroll mingled among other state and local GOP candidates in Paducah last night.
Hoffman is a retired law enforcement officer from Alaska and now serves as the CFO of his wife’s medical
practice. He says his medical experience differentiates himself from his opponent.
“And as we move forward dealing with the effects of the Affordable Care Act, I think that’s going to give me an advantage because I’m working it. I work with it every single day,” said Hoffman.
Danny Carroll who is also a retired law enforcement officer and now CEO of Easter Seals West Kentucky says his established relationships from living in the district his entire life are his biggest assets.
“I know the leadership. I know the people. I will take the time to learn the concerns in Ballard and Carlisle and get to know folks," said Carroll.

The winner of the matchup between Hoffman and Carroll will face democrat Jeff Parker of Paducah. Current Second District State Senator Bob Leeper is not seeking another term. Leeper currently chairs the powerful Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee.
The second district includes Ballard, Carlisle, McCracken and Marshall Counties.
