Kentucky and Tennessee officials have launched initiatives today to spread awareness of human trafficking.

Tennessee’s “IT Has to Stop” website features statistics, prevention tips and links to nonprofits involved in the effort.

Kentucky’s drive is spearheaded by the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Board, along with the Catholic Charities of Louisville and Attorney General Jack Conway.

A seven-part video series will look at human trafficking from multiple perspectives.

Funding for Kentucky’s project comes from the Child Victims’ Trust Fund.

More than 100,000 children are bought or sold each year in the United States, at an average age of 13.
