The Murray Human Rights Commission is hosting a town hall meeting Monday night to gather input from community members on the commission’s updated ordinance.

The changes include protections from discrimination for all sexual orientations and gender identities. Murray HRC Treasurer Jessica Evans says the meeting is the community’s opportunity to offer input before the measure goes to city council.

“We really hope that this town hall will just open up a really productive dialogue on human rights, which is gonna affect all citizens. It’s a matter that affects everyone in the city.”

Last month the commission postponed a vote on the updated ordinance so residents weigh in on the changes. Murray Life Magazine Editor and Murray State professor Bob Valentine is moderating the public event.

The meeting begins at 6:30 at the Council Chambers in City Hall.
