Paducah Jury Convicts LA Man on Drug Charges

U.S. Attorney's Office

A federal jury in Paducah has convicted a Los Angeles man for his plans to sell $160,000 worth of methamphetamine.

34-year-old Jose Manuel Jiminezfaces a mandatory minimum 20 years in prison and possibly a life sentence. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine in McCracken County.

There’s no chance for parole in the federal system.

Testimony indicated the nearly four pounds of meth had been shipped to western Kentucky from Arkansas and may have originated in California.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney John Kuhn said the jury's decision stands as one victory in the war against drugs.

"This conviction helps by putting a drug dealer behind bars and removing pounds of this poison from our streets," Kuhn said.

Both Jiminez and co-defendant Rodolfo Benitez will face sentencing soon.
