Deputy Marshall County judge-executive Melonie Chambers emerged Tuesday night from a crowded field of candidates seeking the Democratic nomination to become the next county judge.
A total of six Democratic candidates were on the ballot in Marshall County and Chambers won narrowly over Troy English.
Chambers will face Kevin Neal, a United States Marine Corps veteran and Paducah Police Department officer, in the general election. Neal ran unopposed on the Republican ballot.
Neal was also the Republican candidate for the same position last year, losing to longtime judge-executive Mike Miller, who died unexpectedly in December. His wife, Chyrill Miller, was appointed by Gov. Steve Beshear to serve through this November’s election.
