A Murray State University geology professor is Kentucky’s new State Geographer. Governor Matt Bevin appointed Dr. George W. Kipphut on Friday.
The state geographer advises state and local officials and agencies on geographic matters. Also, the position serves as a resource for teachers and publishers of geographic materials.
Kipphut is a professor and chair of the Department of Geosciences at MSU.
He replaces Dr. Matthew Zook for a term expiring January 1, 2017.
